"Christ is longing to be your Food."
-Mother Teresa in a letter to Malcom Muggeridge from his book "Something Beautiful for God"
Mother Teresa adored Jesus. Literally. She spent time everyday in His presence, actively adoring him as her Spouse. How much we have to learn from her. How hard it is in this culture, and as a distractable human, to sit down and even try to spend time in adoration - just being with the One we love, and who loves us like no one else can. A foreign concept.
The disciples didn't know what to make of it when Jesus said that they must "eat His flesh and drink His blood". It does sound rather alarming at first. I remember I once was a bit embarrassed when my son blurted out "cannibal" when he heard this passage read in church. But of course he was right to think Jesus's words sounded pretty weird. The disciples thought so too.
Jesus explains, "This is the bread that came down from heaven, not like the bread the fathers ate, and died. Whoever feeds on this bread will live forever."
Jesus, our Manna, my provision in the midst of this wilderness of life on earth, be my Daily Bread.
